About

Meet Jane

As a qualified counsellor registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, I bring a warm, conversational, and collaborative approach to my practice. With a belief in tailoring my methods to suit each client’s needs, in practice this means I have a person-centred foundation and then include CBT to understand thoughts and behaviours, and psychodynamic approaches to explore internalised beliefs and past events.

My aim is to help clients develop a greater understanding of themselves and of the challenges they are bringing. Seeking help is a positive step, and I collaborate with clients to form new perspectives and find inner resilience.

Through careful reflection and exploration, I aim to help clients gain insight, and identify their strengths and resources to find a way forward. Above all I provide a confidential space for clients to express themselves, acknowledging that sometimes it’s easier to talk to a skilled person than those closest to you.

Taking the first step towards counselling takes courage, but together, we can navigate through your journey towards healing and growth.

My membership with the NCPS means I abide by their code of ethics and have regular clinical supervision.

I live in Gloucester with my husband. Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor for The Nelson Trust. The way I like to relax is being creative with different arts and crafts my creativity is something that I bring to the counselling sessions if suitable for the individual.

What does therapy look like?

This is a collaborative process of exploration, and I want to ensure you feel safe and we work at a pace that is right for you.

A good start is for me to get to know you, and to understand who you are, and how it feels to be you. In the first instance you might need someone to talk to, and get some of your thoughts and feelings out there safely.

We can then decide together what goals you have for therapy. It can sometimes feel encouraging to make a plan of action. These goals can always be reviewed as we progress, as the focus of these may change over time.

The time in our sessions is yours, and we will use that time in whichever way will be of most benefit to you. I will be working alongside you, rather than telling you what to do. My role is to give you all the support you need and appropriate guidance too.

How long will we work together?

This varies from individual to individual, and could be short-term of 4 to 6 weeks, or longer-term over months or years. If we were to work longer-term we would have regular reviews to ensure our work was meeting your needs, and if any changes needed to be made.

These reviews are also important to establish when you feel ready to end therapy, and to work towards the end safely with a plan of how that will look.

Where will we meet?

At present, all counselling sessions take place online, on the secure platform Zoom, or on the telephone if you prefer.

With online and telephone sessions, counselling can fit into your life wherever you have access to a confidential space.

Session duration

Sessions are 50 minutes.

Fees

The cost is £50 per session, however I am happy to have a conversation around this regarding what you can afford and/or the frequency of sessions.

Informal Chat

I offer a free 30-minute informal chat, which can be by telephone or online to suit you. Please email me at: insightfulpathcounselling@gmail.com.

This is an opportunity for us to meet, explore why you are looking to begin counselling, and for you to ask any questions you may have before making any financial commitment.

If you are happy to start we would then agree on a day and time to commence regular sessions.
